Parents are the ultimate role models for children. Every word, movement and action has an effect. No other person or outside force has a greater influence on a child than the parent- Bob Keeshan
From the moment children acquire all their five senses, they look up to their parents to guide them in all their ventures and develop early social skills. That is how the parents become the first teachers. A strong bond of love and trust naturally binds the parents and the children which is instrumental in boosting their confidence. Also, the Parent is the one who gets to spend maximum time with them, hence it is inevitable that they have immense potential of influencing them.
Having said that it is true that a child needs a proper formal academic environment where professionally trained teachers impart holistic teaching along with basic essential necessity of the civilized world, the Discipline. Here comes the role of school but research indicates that a child performs better when they are supported and cheered by their parents. Parent’s support makes a child so strong that he or she is never afraid of failures or mistakes as they believe that no matter what happens parents are there to support and encourage them to begin afresh. Parent involvement is often considered a pathway through which schools enhance the achievement of underperforming children.
Shanti Asiatic School does not want to leave any stone unturned for the best results of its pupils. Hence
We want parents to join hands with us to make all the efforts towards best outcome. Through our initiative- ‘Sahayog- Ek Prayas’, we hope to achieve: -
Better Classroom Behavior
Parental involvement not only enhances academic performance, but it also has a positive influence on students’ attitude and behavior. A parent's interest and encouragement in a child's education can affect the child's attitude toward school, classroom conduct, self-esteem, absenteeism, and motivation.
Improving Reading Skills
Reading, in particular, improves greatly when parents and children read together at home. Reading aloud with a child contributes significantly to the child's reading abilities.
Lifting Teacher’s Morale
Schools and teachers benefit from parental involvement because involved parents develop greater appreciation for the challenges that teachers face in the classroom. Teacher morale is improved. Communication between home and school helps a teacher to know a student better, which in turn allows the teacher to teach the student more effectively. Communication also helps to dispel any mistrust or misperceptions that may exist between teachers and parents.
